Man. RIP Tim Russert. While he wasn't always my favorite, he was a fair, studied, classy guy, who loved his family, the truth, the nature of curiosity, and holding people's feet to the fire. It's a shame that 58 years of dedication, hard work, and building the obvious respect of his peers and mentees, ends in dying way too young. Watching Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman and the rest of NBC and MSNBC's luminaries talk so highly of someone, and each to a one, as professional as they are, come so close to tears, really says something about his character, accomplishments, and his basic human decency and respect for, hell, truth, justice and the American way.
He will be missed by me, his family, his family at NBC, and really, the country. He was the foremost political reporter of his time. He will not be missed by the lens of history, which will tell of his life many years into the future.
